There are many dinner cruises in Bangkok, and some can be enjoyed for as little as $30. However, most of them feel like a lively party…
If you have come to Bangkok and want to make it a special night and spend it romantically, I recommend Shangri-La’s “Horizon Dinner Cruise” where you can enjoy the services of a hotel of your dreams.
It’s a great way to spend a special evening as a couple or with your girlfriends.
This dinner cruise also gave us excellent memories of Bangkok.
In this article, I will report on the Shangri-la dinner cruise in as much detail as possible.
You can book a dinner cruise on KKday for $10 less than on the official website.

Going to the Shangri-La, the hotel of my dreams
The Shangri-La’s Horizon Dinner Cruise is from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
The meeting time was 19:00, so I arrived at the hotel at exactly 19:00. I had been looking forward to it for a long time, so my excitement was building.
The Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok is located along the river, so we can take the boat directly from the hotel.
Finally, we boarded the Horizon
The reception area is right in front of the ship. The receptionist at the hotel told us where the ship was and we didn’t get lost.
I had a reservation, so I told them my name and they showed me to the ship right away.
The lights on the ship are beautiful! It’s a small dinner cruise, so it’s not a very big ship.
The charm of this cruise is that you can enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere because of the small number of people. It’s not that big of a ship.
We are immediately greeted by an attendant.
When I showed my ticket here, I was shown to my predetermined seat.
By the way, this time I booked through a service called kkday.
The price is $79.69 at kkday. There is a page in Japanese, so it’s easy to apply.
With a romantic night view
We were taken to the very front of the ship, which we didn’t expect! It was the most romantic place.
There were also other seats inside the ship and outside at the back of the ship.
The front of the ship is a free space that anyone can enter.
There was still some time before our departure, so I took some pictures along with the sparkling night view of Bangkok.
By the way, this cruise is operated by the 5-star Shangri-La, and the service is perfect.
It’s a great way to get a feel for the city and its people. Thanks to this, we were able to take a lot of two-shots, which will remain in our memories. Plus, all the staff were great at taking pictures!
A wonderful table setting, typical of Shangri-La
I was very impressed with the table settings on this dinner cruise.
The napkins were neatly folded. It’s a shame to unfold them…!
We had made a reservation, so they also provided us with a name plate.
Toast with welcome drink
A welcome drink was included in the service. If you order wine or soft drinks, you will have to pay extra. I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not.
Cheers to the welcome drink! Refreshing, fruity, and delicious.
Finally, the cruise begins!
Finally, the ship begins to move.
The boat moves through the sparkling night scenery of Bangkok. The breeze felt so good!
We were seated outside on the second floor, but it was comfortable and not hot at all.
The dinner we’ve been waiting for
The long awaited dinner time. This cruise is buffet style, so you’re free to eat whatever you want.
Of course, there is a wide variety of Thai food. The slightly spicy Thai food will cheer you up when you eat it.
Fresh seafood too.
Sushi too…! I’m not sure what to make of this.
My favorite was this marinade. It’s full of seafood and has a spicy Thai flavor that I can’t get enough of.
The bread was fluffy, moist and delicious.
This dinner cruise has a wide variety of Thai food as well as non-Thai food, so you don’t have to worry about what they like or dislike. You can enjoy whatever you like as much as you like.
Dinner with a sparkling night view is bliss
We took what we wanted, went back to our seats and savored it slowly while looking at the night view.
Wat Arun is this close!
The boat continues to move forward and we are getting closer to Wat Arun, one of the three most famous temples in Bangkok.
I was thrilled to get so close that I could see the pattern of Wat Arun! I didn’t expect to be able to see it so closely.
The boat slowed down near Wat Arun, so I could take photos slowly.
As we passed Wat Arun, the Royal Palace came into view.
U-turn at the magnificent Rama VIII Bridge
When we reach the large Rama VIII Bridge, the boat makes a U-turn and returns to the hotel as well. The bridge is golden and beautiful.
It just takes almost an hour and a half to get there and about 30 minutes to get back. The return trip is faster, so it’s best to take photos on the way.
The desserts at the five-star hotels are excellent
Not only rice, but dessert is also available on board. It’s a buffet, so of course you can eat all you want.
The food was really good, but the desserts were also excellent. There are many kinds of cakes.
There are also plenty of fruits typical of Thailand.
With tea being made and photos being taken, two hours passed quickly and we were back at the Shangri-La Hotel.
It was a quick two hours, but we had a really romantic and wonderful time. It was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing and mature time in Bangkok.
It was a very satisfying cruise for both him and me, and we would use it again if we ever visit Bangkok.
I really recommend this cruise, especially for couples and couples.
▼ This is the first time I’ve ever been on a cruise in Bangkok, and I’ve been on the Chao Phraya Princess.
This is a pretty affordable cruise at $29.80.
It’s much more crowded, so I thought it would be better to go with friends or kids.
You can also buy tickets here at KKday for more than $10 cheaper than the official website.
