A panoramic view of Paris from the 324-meter-high Eiffel Tower! Summary of tourist information on how to make reservations and photo spots

The Eiffel Tower was built for the Paris World Exposition in 1889. At 324 meters high, it was the tallest tower in the world when it was built.

Did you know that you can actually climb the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower? In this article, I will explain the tourist information around the Eiffel Tower, how to climb the Eiffel Tower, and how to make a reservation.

Even if you don’t have time to climb the Eiffel Tower, there are photo spots nearby for you to take a souvenir photo.

If you are thinking of visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, please take a look at this article.

I definitely want to go! Three must-see places around the Eiffel Tower

1. The “Observatory” of the Eiffel Tower where you can see all of Paris

The Eiffel Tower is visible from every corner of Paris. The Eiffel Tower has an observation deck from which you can see all of Paris.

There is no other building in Paris as tall as the Eiffel Tower, so you can really see far into the distance. I was also surprised when I climbed to the top of the observation deck…!

The three observation decks on the Eiffel Tower

The second and third observation decks are the main ones.

・First Observation Deck 57.6m
・Second observation deck 115.7m
・Third Observatory 276.1m

The second observation deck can be reached by stairs, and the third observation deck can be reached only by elevator.
Of course, you can take the elevator up to the second observation deck as well.

If you go up to the third observation deck, you can see the whole city of Paris from a really far distance.

・How to get there.
There are three nearest stations. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. From each station to the Eiffel Tower, you don’t have to worry about getting lost because signs for accessing the Eiffel Tower are posted in detail.

Trocadero station (line 9) (15 minutes walk)
Villaquem station on line 6 (10 minutes walk)
Ecole Militaire station on line 8 (15 minutes walk)

2. “Palais de Chaillot” is the best photo spot of the Eiffel Tower

I want to take a beautiful picture with the Eiffel Tower in the background! If you want to take a beautiful photo with the Eiffel Tower in the background, you should go to Palais de Chaillot.

Palais de Chaillot is the best place to see the Eiffel Tower. We took a lot of pictures there too.

Although you can’t see the Eiffel Tower as closely as you can in Chandemars Park, the view from Palais de Chaillot is outstanding. I really love this place, and I think I could spend hours looking at the Eiffel Tower from here.

A crowded place during the day. If you arrive before 9:00am when the Eiffel Tower opens in the morning, you can take pictures at your leisure.

We went around in the following order: Palais de Chaillot, Eiffel Tower Observation Deck, and Parc des Chandemars.

Shooting tips

・It’s easier to take pictures if you go before 9:00 in the morning.
・Wear bright clothes.
・If you have macaroons, flowers, hats, etc., it is easier to take pictures with the Eiffel Tower.

It takes about 10 minutes to walk there from the Eiffel Tower.

3.The Parc du Champ de Mars, located under the Eiffel Tower.

If you don’t have time to climb the Eiffel Tower, you can still come close to it. There is a park under the Eiffel Tower called Chandomarus Park, where many people take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

I recommend this place where you can see the Eiffel Tower up close and also relax on the grass.

Impressed by the panoramic view of Paris! I climbed the Eiffel Tower!

There is a system to reserve the elevator of the Eiffel Tower, but we didn’t do so.

We decided to go early in the morning to take advantage of the nice weather during our stay. Here’s how the day went! On the day we went, the restaurant opened at 9:30.

9:13 First, we went through the security check

To enter the grounds of the Eiffel Tower, you must first pass through a security check.

When we came here during the daytime, there was a long line for the security check… But if you come early in the morning, it’s totally empty! We were able to pass through without much of a line.

9:20 a.m. Line up in the morning for tickets

Once we were inside the Eiffel Tower, we got in line to buy our tickets. At this time, there were already about 20 people in line, but it was much better than the 2-3 hour line during the day, lol.

9:35 Buy tickets

We lined up for about 15 minutes and successfully changed our tickets.

The ticket has a glittering Eiffel Tower on it. Cute…!

9:42 Take the elevator to the second observation deck

After we bought our tickets, we were able to get on the elevator with almost no line.

Now it’s time to climb up the Eiffel Tower!

9:55 Arrive at the second observation deck

We arrived at the second observation deck. You can see the whole city of Paris!

Even people going to the third observation deck at the top get off at the second observation deck once.

This was a fun observation deck with a small cafe and souvenir shop.

10:30 Finally to the third observation deck at the top

After taking a rest at the second observatory, we finally climbed up to the third observatory at the top!

We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of scenery awaits us as we ascend from the second observation deck.

10:34 Arrive at the third observation deck

The view from the third observatory was really beautiful. It is much higher than the second observation deck, so you can see farther.

They often say that you can’t see the Eiffel Tower from the Eiffel Tower, but we found the Eiffel Tower!

We could see the Eiffel Tower in the shadows!

It was very cold and windy at the observatory… I wanted to look at the beautiful view, but I was too cold, so if you are going to go there in the future, please make sure you are prepared for the cold.

11:05 Enjoying the observatory and going down

We enjoyed the view from the Eiffel Tower and went down to the ground. It took us about an hour and a half to slowly climb up, but if you look around quickly, you can be back on the ground in less than an hour.

You don’t stay at the top of Tokyo Tower or Sky Tree for that long, do you? If you go quickly like that, it won’t take you long.

Please wake up early in the morning and try to climb the Eiffel Tower!

To climb the Eiffel Tower, go early in the morning or make a reservation

The Eiffel Tower gets very crowded

There is usually a line for hours to climb the Eiffel Tower. Therefore, it is best to go early in the morning or make a reservation.

Personally, I would recommend going early in the morning. When I say early in the morning, I mean just a little before the elevators start operating at 9:00 a.m. You will be fine.

If you have made a reservation, it cannot be changed even if the weather is rainy or stormy that day. So if you have a nice day during your stay, I would recommend heading to the Eiffel Tower right away in the morning.

We arrived at the Eiffel Tower around 8:30am, and there was barely a line!

How to reserve an elevator for the Eiffel Tower

If you want to go up at an unexpected time in the morning, or if you feel more comfortable making a reservation, you can do so in Japan.

You can make a reservation up to three months in advance, so if you have a specific date in mind, it’s a good idea to book early.

Every hour after sunset, at 00 minutes, the Eiffel Tower will start shining!

The Eiffel Tower is beautiful during the day, but there is one thing you must see at night.

It is the “Champagne Flash”. After sunset, the Eiffel Tower sparkles and shines for five minutes every hour from 00:00.
For example, between 22:00 and 22:05.

In the summer, the first champagne flash is at 10:00 p.m., a little later than usual because the sun sets after 9:00 p.m., but it is very beautiful and a must-see when you are in Paris.

Two things to keep in mind when visiting the Eiffel Tower

Caveat 1: Protect yourself from the cold when climbing

The observation deck of the Eiffel Tower is not an indoor space. The wind blows very strongly, so please make sure you are prepared for the cold.

If you are cold, you will not be able to enjoy the view.

Caveat 2: If you are going to line up during the day, be prepared to wait 3 hours

.
If you are going to the Eiffel Tower during the daytime without a reservation, be prepared to wait in line for more than 3 hours.

The security check alone is quite a long queue, and the ticket purchase afterwards also takes a long time.

Summary: The closer you get to the Eiffel Tower, the more beautiful it is

When you see the Eiffel Tower up close, you will be amazed at how detailed the decorations are.

The Eiffel Tower is beautiful from afar, but if you are visiting Paris, be sure to take a closer look.

I’m sure you will rediscover the charm of the Eiffel Tower.

Have a nice trip!
