In Japan, dinner cruises often cost more than $100, but in Bangkok, you can enjoy a cruise for less than $30.
A particularly popular and cosmopolitan cruise is the “Chao Phraya Princess” cruise.
In addition to a delicious buffet and a two-hour cruise, there are plenty of live bands and choruses.
You are sure to have fun and make memories while watching the sparkling night view of Bangkok.
This time, I actually boarded the Chao Phraya Princess, so I’ll tell you about the ship in detail!
★The cheapest way to book a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya Princess is through the KKday website. You can book at least $10 cheaper per person than the official website. The site is in Japanese and has customer support. I also use it all the time in Thailand. →Book tickets for the popular Chao Phraya Princess for $29.83, cheaper than the official site!
The Chao Phraya Princess is the No. 1 dinner cruise in terms of cost.
There are many cruises available in Bangkok, but the Chao Phraya Princess is the most popular and cost effective.

The route is as follows.
Quote：Chao Phraya Princess
You will make a U-turn at the Rama VIII Bridge and the Asiatique Riverfront. In the meantime, you can see Wat Arun and the Royal Palace.
By the way, if you book through the official website or other websites, the price will be almost $40, but if you book through KKday, the price was $29.83 per adult.

It seems that if you book early, you will be guided to a seat on the second floor where you can easily see the night view.
[Experience] Report on board the “Chao Phraya Princess”!
Here is a summary of our actual ride on the Chao Phraya Princess.
We had a very fun couple of hours!
Heading to the deck at embarkation time
This time, we planned to take the 7:30 p.m. boat from River City Pier.
The Chao Phraya Princess is available from No. 1 to No. 5, and the departure time seems to vary slightly depending on the ship.
Incidentally, the River City Pier is like a shopping center, so it was crowded with people waiting to board the ship.
I showed my reservation email at the ticket counter before 19:00 and got my ticket.
We headed to the deck around 19:25.
The ship arrived and we were greeted by a brass band
At first we were wondering what was going on as the boat we were going to board hadn’t arrived yet, but finally the boat we were going to board arrived.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a wonderful performance by a brass band. I was impressed by this…!
My anticipation for the dinner cruise increased.
Finally boarding the ship
After the performance, we finally boarded the boat.
The sparkling ship is beautiful.
The Chao Phraya Princess has seats on the first and second floors.
The first floor is indoors, while the second floor is on a covered terrace. I felt that the night breeze was more pleasant on the second floor and the night view was easier to see.
If you make a reservation at the last minute, you are likely to end up on the first floor. I think it’s better to book early if you have a fixed schedule.
This time we booked early, so we were seated on the second floor.
We climbed the stairs on the ship and were shown to our seats.
Take your seat and toast with a cocktail
We were shown to our seats where we could have a beautiful view of the night sky.
A free snack of potato chips and a non-alcoholic cocktail are included.
This is a great service…!
First, we toasted with a fruity cocktail.
The long-awaited meal time
Now, let’s go look at the food I was curious about.
The Chao Phraya Princess is an international buffet, featuring Thai cuisine.
There were many appetizers as well as salads.
This seafood salad was pretty darn good!
Bangkok is a place where seafood is delicious, such as shrimp and squid. Bangkok is a good place to eat seafood such as shrimp and squid, and I’m glad that it’s also a safe place to eat in terms of cooking.
A variety of peel-and-eat type shrimp.
Spiced meats and curries.
It’s not just Thai food, so it’s an easy place to come with kids.
Sushi was also available, and we couldn’t resist.
The sashimi was fresh and quite tasty.
Of course, there is a wide selection of desserts. It’s a great way to get to know the people around you.
The cake was too sweet for me, but the custard pudding was gentle and became my favorite.
Wat Arun in no time
While we were enjoying our meal, it didn’t take us long to reach Wat Arun.
It’s hard to see the night view of Wat Arun so close, so I’m glad we did.
I love Wat Arun in the daytime, but it’s also beautiful lit up…!
By the way, besides the seating area where you can enjoy your food, there is also a deck area that you can freely enter.
Many people who were satisfied with the food came here to watch the night view.
Enjoying the glittering night view of Bangkok
Passing the Royal Palace, we came to the Rama VIII Bridge.
It is asymmetrical cable-stayed style and is said to be the fifth longest bridge in the world. It was beautifully shining.
After passing the Rama VIII bridge, we made a U-turn. We’ll go back the way we came.
The boat is lively with live chorus and bands
At that time, the atmosphere on board was quite lively with live chorus and band.
There were a lot of Indian passengers on the boat, and some of them were dancing to the beat.
If you are going with your children, you might enjoy the lively atmosphere together.
After enjoying the night view, it was time to head back
We came to the popular night market, Asiatique the Riverfront, and the ship made a U-turn.
It was almost time to get off the ship.
First, the passengers who were scheduled to disembark at ICONSIAM disembarked.
The fountain show was just going on, and it was powerful!
The movement of the water and light matched beautifully.
We could see River City, where we would be disembarking.
A two-hour dinner cruise, with so much to see and do, it really flew by!
It was quite a satisfying cruise as we could enjoy it in the $20s.
How to make a reservation on the Chao Phraya Princess
The only site to book is KKday
Make your reservation on the KKday website, which is more than $10 cheaper than the official website.
KKday is a website that handles tours to over 80 countries around the world and offers great deals.
The site is in Japanese and has customer support. We often use it for our overseas trips.
Especially the Chao Phraya Princess is cheaper than booking on other sites, so booking through KKday is a must!
River City Pier is a convenient departure point
When you book through KKday, you can choose from several departure points.
There are several departure points to choose from when booking with KKday, but they are all along the Chao Phraya River and not in the center of Bangkok.
The most convenient one is the River City Pier.
If you don’t have to go to other places, River City Pier is fine.
Other choices are Icon Siam and Asiatique Riverfront Pier.
On the day, head to the departure point 30 minutes before boarding
When you make a reservation with KKday, you will receive a voucher via email.
On the day of the tour, you will need to change this voucher to your actual ticket.
Just show your email to the attendant and he will change it into a ticket right away.
Just to make sure, KKday contacted me to be there 30 minutes before departure.
Since this is the only way, booking with KKday is very easy.
The earlier you book, the more likely you will be able to get a second floor seat, so book early when you have your plans.
My actual impressions of the ship
The food is an international buffet, easy to eat for everyone
The cuisine includes Thai food as well as sushi and fried rice.
You can eat whatever you want, as much as you want, so it’s easy to go with any kind of person.
The ship is lively with live music and chorus
I think the atmosphere on the ship is a lively one.
There were live music performances and choruses, and when we were there, there were a lot of people who were in the mood for a good time, so it seemed much more festive.
There were some reviews that said they enjoyed it when they went there with their children, so if you have children, it might be a good idea to enjoy it with them without getting bored.
If you want to go on a romantic cruise with a calm atmosphere, I recommend the Shangri-La cruise.
The price is a bit high, but it was the most romantic experience I’ve ever had.
▼ Click here for a look at the Shangri-La cruise.
The cosmopolitan Chao Phraya Princess is a must-voyage!
You can’t enjoy a dinner cruise in Japan for $29.80.
When you think about it, I think you should take a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya Princess at least once when you come to Bangkok.
You can enjoy delicious food and a beautiful night view of Bangkok at a very reasonable price.
It’s hot during the day, but it’s great to take a cruise and enjoy the night breeze while eating delicious food.
If you visit Bangkok, please try a dinner cruise.
